Well I'm not surprised at all, this kind of things always hapends here (in Mexico) they commonly do things like this, just as like they almost did to Pokemon and Dragon ball (they said that it was diabolic and almost prohibited all Anime in our country).

Anyway, I need to say that I don't see why all the rage against the the show; I mean, of course they make otakus look like retards, stupid, and immature, but... C'mon this show is utterly stupid anyway. Of course!, lots of people watch this and of course lots of stupid people are going to believe it, but... HEY! I'll say it again, they are stupid if they believe it and don't (at least) try to investigate if what they watch on TV is true or not.

Tra la la, I know I'm late to the convo, but, well... there's no thread with a newer post than this in this forum, so...

I didn't watch that because I don't speak Spanish and I'm too lazy to look for a translator thingy. But as long as this show isn't starting an active movement to ban anime or something, I wouldn't worry about it. Most "nerdy" things are made fun of by the general public, so get used to people not liking the things you like. You just kinda have to figure out what you enjoy, just go with it, and not worry about what other people think. As long as it brings you enjoyment and it isn't hurting anyone else, who cares? I mean yeah, it can be hard to keep this in practice sometimes-especially when someone is particularly loud about hating on you for it-but in the long run, oh well. Most people are not assholes, can be open minded about things-especially harmless things like enjoying anime. Avoid the people who are not, or ignore them if you can't. Anyhoo...

There really is no point in pointing out how Otakus are made to be abnormal and hated, its the same with a lot of things. Anything that isnt the common norm of society will be lashed out at, its simple psychology. We fear what we do not know, and we critise what we do. We simple cannot be satisfied in this day and age, if it isnt accepted by the majority then it wont be accepted personally, unless you consider yourself a non-conformist (even though you are conforming to the non-conformists which means you are literally not making any progress from "breaking the mold".), but yeah, hate is everywhere so I wouldnt be too surprised.
